Here we are enjoying some holiday fun at the Festival of Trees!
#1 daughter and my lovely sister in-law, aka...the witness! |
Festival of Trees is a fundraising event held each year to benefit Primary Children's Medical Center. It's fun, people donate decorated trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses, they have entertainment, a kids craft area and of course Santa.
It was during this holiday hullabaloo that I was insulted by an old lady! OK, that's a bit dramatic, here is what happened.
We were walking around admiring something loaded with baubles when an old lady stops me, of course, to ask about the twins I am pushing in the stroller. We chat for a minute at which time she says "I hope you have a lot of help, oh well you're the grandma anyway."
Pretty sure my jaw dropped, you will have to ask my witness. I said "uhhh, the grandma?" She looked a bit confused when her even older friend whisper yelled (like old people do) "that's the mom!" At this point we could do nothing more than crack up as she tried to apologize about sticking her foot in her mouth. I told her it was OK, not to worry. She did have really thick glasses on and maybe the lighting was bad, but she should have stopped there.
About 5 minutes later we ran into her again. She embarrassingly tried to explain herself with this comment "you have to give me a break there are lots of grandmas that look 35". I couldn't help myself, I said with sad question in my voice "I look 35". You should have seen the look on her face... "O no I did it again".
We put the poor lady out of her misery by walking away laughing, and my sister in-law called me grandma the rest of the day! By the way I am only 31!
Thanks, Love ya.
