Listen In!

This week... Adele!
19 was awesome but I am loving 21.  I hate to brag but I pretty much sound exactly like Adele when I am by myself in the car.  Check her out if you haven't already!

Thanks, Love ya.

Coach

I took a big step back in time today!

My sister is coaching sophomore girls basketball for our Alma Mater Logan High.  Go Grizz!  Being as the game was only 10 minutes from home I loaded up "my team" and headed out to enjoy some b-ball.  I must admit I was pleasantly surprised, having played girls basketball myself I know how terribly boring it can be.  Coach Moll is really doing a great job and the game was pretty entertaining!

Box Out!!! Coach in action.

The team lost by 2 but that's not to bad for girls who as my sister put it "didn't even know how to line up for a free throw".  I had to remind the Coach that I was the girl who showed up to freshman tryouts wearing pink tights (they were really flesh color, but the family tells the story as pink tights) under my b-ball shorts because I had dance practice after tryouts... I made the team, the rest is history and girls basketball has never been the same!

OK, so girls basketball probably would have survived without me but you don't see this kind of scrappy play everyday...

This was the one time my picture made the local paper, looks like I want to eat the ball.

Thanks, Love ya.

Christmas Tree Day!

Today was Christmas tree day.
We started off all smiles!

And in the end we are very happy...

We will just forget the moments in the middle in which both adults (if you can call us that) had thoughts of walking out the door without saying a word to try and escape until all was said and done!  'Tis the season for screaming babies and an overexcited 2 year old.

Thanks, Love ya.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

How do you explain Thanksgiving?

I am looking forward to an awesome Thanksgiving!  It will be the 1st Thanksgiving for the two little turkeys I added to my 'rafter' this year.  Rafter is group of turkeys, I googled it.

Wishing everyone a great holiday!
Thanks, Love ya.

Gotta love South Salt Lake!

34 Years!

Happy anniversary to my wonderful parents!

My world traveling Mom and Dad are living in Russia for a few years and this year they are headed to Germany to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary.  Lucky!!! Last year they celebrated in Turkey!

Mom and Dad were lucky to have 3 of the most awesome children ever! ;) Who could ever have imagined what we all have now because of their love...

Love you Grandma and Grandpa!

Thanks, Love ya.

Tinfoil Fun!

Remember making those tinfoil paper pictures in grade school?  I decided that I would show #1 daughter the joys of glue, yarn and tinfoil today.  I am not sure this is exactly how it is done as I have blocked most of 3rd grade from my memory due to Mrs. Moore and her evil ways.

To make this awesome craft project on your own you will need...

Card stock, white glue, yarn, scissors, tinfoil, tape, markers and eager little hands.
Draw or print a pattern onto the card stock.  We made a hand turkey due to the upcoming holiday.
Outline your pattern with white glue...
Lots of white glue!
Lay some yarn on your glue to outline your pattern.
What a cute little hand turkey!
Cover the card stock with a piece of tinfoil.
Tape the tinfoil down to the back of the card stock.  Using an excess amount of tape as with the white glue really makes the project better!
Rub the tinfoil to reveal your pattern.
Color all over with markers to decorate!
I must admit I ended up finishing the turkey...
#1 daughter was to busy trying to figure out how to make the scissors work.  I have little pieces of yarn everywhere!

Now go make a mess and have some fun with tinfoil!!!

Thanks, Love ya.

Above Average!

Are you ready?!?!?

Three reasons I am excited...

1. Snowfall in Utah is predicted to be above
    average this year!
2. I am not pregnant with twins this year!
*Insert are you sure joke here, yes I am definitely sure.*
3. We all have our season pass ready to go, go, go...

Now all I need is some volunteer babysitters!!!
I can't always take the kiddos :)

Thanks, Love ya.
*Please comment if you would like to sign up for a babysitting shift!

Still Hungry...

#1 daughter says to me today "I still hungry momma".

This simple statement stopped me in my tracks and I thought what if I had nothing else to give her.  I know we have all heard it before but millions of children go hungry each day and millions of those children say to their parent, I'm still hungry.

I think this fact is different to me now because I have my own children.  My heart goes out to those parents who can do nothing more than cuddle their hungry children when they are crying because their belly hurts from hunger.

I challenge all of you who read this to make a donation!  I know this time of year is big for donating, let's not forget the rest of the year too.  Please support your local food bank or charity organization of choice.  Every little bit helps!

Thanks, Love ya.

The Mom Bob!

I recently chopped my hair off and got what my brother in-law would affectionately or not so affectionately call the "Mom Bob".  On the plus side I have made my first donation to Locks of Love.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.  They accept hair and also cash donations.

Donation was not my reason for cutting off all my hair it just worked out that it was long enough to donate!   Mom bob monicker aside my heart felt good! :)

Oh, and if you are at the post office and don't want to get three kids out of the truck so you ask some guy going in if he will take your envelope full of hair and post it for you, he will tell you no.  I guess one good deed does not always deserve another.

Thanks, Love ya.

They ask you send the hair in a padded envelope.  Wonder why?

It’s a recession man!

Ding, Dong!  Its Halloween 2011 and trick or treating has begun.  Each time there is a knock at the door we all run excitedly to see what costumes await us on the front porch.

Knock, knock… we open the door to see a group of teenage boys in lame costumes and one boy with no costume at all.  The Husband says to the kid not dressed up “you don’t get any, you don’t have a costume on”.  Without missing a beat the 14 year old kid replies “ok how bout this… I live in the ghetto and it’s a recession man!”  We all crack up laughing and The Husband gives the kid a couple extra candies!

Happy Belated Halloween
Thanks, Love ya

Smelly Memories!

Last night at work I smelled Hawaii!  I know it sounds funny but I sat at my computer all night dreaming of lying on the beach, swimming in the ocean, and eating Opakapaka. Yum, yum!

You’ve had it happen to I’m sure…You walk past someone or something and get a whiff and boom you are taken to another place and time!  Good or bad, I usually love when this happens.

Just the other day I made a pot roast and was whisked away to a Sunday afternoon in my Grandma Dixie’s kitchen.  I only wish my pot roast would have tasted as good as hers always did.

Upon further investigation as to why this smell phenomenon happens I found a fun little article at How Stuff Works which explains it much better than I ever could. Go read it!

I think I will stick my nose in the air right now and try to transport myself…

Crusin' the old hood!  This is my sis!

Ridin' the T-bar at Whakapa in NZ!

Lunch on my wedding day!

 And going way back...

 Adams Elementary, 4th grade.
I thought Molly was the one with a crush on Wreed! (family joke :)
I definitely had some style, check out those bangs!
I am far right side :)
Happy Smelly Memories!
Thanks, Love ya.

Under 60?

Today I was at the Holiday/Lions Fitness Center with all my kiddos in tow to renew my membership! I was filling out the information when a couple of little old ladies stopped to gawk at the twins and ask me a bunch of questions, which happens a lot these days.

A guy comes up to the desk so one of the ladies moves to let him pass. The guy tells her that he is waiting for someone to help him at the desk and the following conversation happens…

Old Lady: Ok, just look and admire these beautiful babies then.

Guy: I have children of my own, I have no admiration left.

Huh??

Old Lady: Well did you have two at the same time, huh, did ya!

Guy: No, No I didn’t.

Old Lady: Well then don’t be rude.

Mind you, I was not even involved in this little rumble (actually kept my mouth shut for once) but that little lady was pretty cute sticking up for herself and my babies. I finished getting my pass and moved along without a second thought to the grumpy guy when I heard the following exchange…

Guy: I would like a pass to the pool.

Front Desk Girl: Ok, uh…are you under 60?

Guy: Under 60? I am under 50, under 40!!!

Front Desk Girl: Oh sorry, I uh, didn’t want to charge you too much…

I couldn’t help smiling. Seems as though karma was sticking up for my little old friend!

Thanks, Love ya.

This is my Grandma and my twins. This story is not about her but I thinks she would have done the same thing!

What a bright time, it’s the right time?

Last Friday night I was driving home from work in the snow. I tuned in to my guilty pleasure FM100…sigh to keep myself awake by belting out some good oldies, and by oldies I mean the stuff I listened to back in the day (and now I feel old). By the way I am a great singer in the car at 1am!

Excuse me, I digress. Digress is my new favorite word… sorry I digress again.

With windshield wipers wiping, heater blasting, and stereo cranked I hear the tinkling of a new song begin and what to my wondering ears do I hear?

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock! What? Oh come on FM100, its November 4th!

Some in my family would argue that any amount of Christmas music is too much. I do not hate Christmas music, actually I kind of like it, but I would at least like to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving dinner first.

Thanks, Love ya.
